 music, Robert
 Henke
 likes
 to
 enrich
 his
 work
 with
 researches
 on
 tools
 and
 technology
 while
 creating
 his
 own
 instruments
 and
 taking
 an
 active
 part
 in
 the
 development
 of
 Ableton Live,
 that
 is
 currently
 one
 of
 the
 most
 preferred
 software
 used
 by
 musicians.
 He
 also gives lectures and taught at the Berlin University of the Arts and as guest artist at the CCRMA / Stanford University. Robert
 Henke
 creates
 multi‐media
 performances
 and
 installations
 as
 well
 as
 spatial
 sound
 performances that
 were exhibited
 at
 the London Tate Modern or the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

 Airport
 is
 located
 in
 Saint‐Jacques-de-la-Lande
 at
 the
 South‐Western
 part
 of
 Rennes.
 From
 here,
 airplanes
 serve
 120
 travel
 destinations,
 by
 direct
 scheduled
 flights
 or
 charter
 ones.
 It
 is
 also
 the
7th busiest French airport
 in terms of air
freight.
 In 2013
 the traffic
 was up to 481.271 passengers and
 12.100 tons of freight.


During
 Robert
 Henke’s
 residency,
 that
 took
 place
 from
 17
 to
 20
 September
 2013,
 he
 recorded
 sounds
 in
 several
 locations
 of
 the
 airport:
 public
 spaces,
 control
 tower,
 reserved
 areas…
 For his piece he created a soundscape that consists of easily recognizable sources as well as strong and complex transformations that serve as a layer of atmosphere and color in the background. As a result the work is floating between documentary sound art and musical composition. The
 presentation
 of
 that
 sound
 postcard
 within
 Rennes
 Airport
 matched
 the
 opening
 of
 the
 12th
 edition
 of
 the
 Cultures
 Electroni[k]
 festival.
 On
 the
 8th
 of
 October
 2012, 200
 persons discovered Robert
Henke’s work
 through, presented as multichannel surround live performance.
